Our Sustainability Policy

For GenCell Energy, sustainability and advancing Sustainable Development Goals is core to our value proposition, corporate identity and business success. Sustainability and sustainable energy considerations rule how we design, engineer and manufacture our products. As a part of the processes in which we define solutions for our customers, engage with suppliers, measure business risks and opportunities and shape our role in the communities in which we are active, sustainability is the core value governing our actions in ensuring the health, safety and security of our customers, partners, employees, contractors and others with whom we interact across our ecosystem. GenCell has appointed a Safety and Environmental Protection Officer who holds responsibility to ensure full compliance with all Sustainability measures.

Our Sustainability Goals

GenCell has committed to the following Sustainability Goals:

  • Usage of safety equipment in all stages of the manufacturing process;
  • Controlled usage of hazardous materials;
  • Minimized carbon emission and cost-efficient control of energy resources in the design, manufacture and deployment of GenCell products;
  • Prominent display of and adherence to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) in all relevant locations where manufacturing operations are conducted;
  • Recycling of all recyclable materials.

Advancing UN Sustainable Development Goals

SDG 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for allIn alignment with SDG 7, GenCell’s fuel cells support the transition of the global economy to clean, efficient and sustainable sources of energy. We mobilize our scientific know-how, technological expertise and innovation to increase the share of renewables in the global energy mix and the rate of improvement of energy efficiency. Looking ahead, GenCell invests in new technologies to expand the hydrogen economy with the clear aim of making possible clean, affordable electrification for all.

SDG 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impactsIn alignment with SDG 13, our fuel cells are the selfsame tools that strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters around the world. We invest considerable efforts to encourage climate change mitigation, adaptation and impact reduction. Our failsafe, renewable power sources improve conditions during climate-related weather events, support first responders and emergency service providers in delivering assistance during crises and eliminate GHG emissions to reduce risk of future disasters.

Our Sustainability Practices

GenCell Energy as a manufacturer of industrial fuel cell equipment endeavors to fully comply with rigorous Quality Assurance and Sustainability Objectives and best practices throughout the production lifecycle, from design through production through to equipment retirement.  During our production operations, GenCell is committed to safe and sustainable processes, including:

Recycling of metals

A third-party supplier separates the metals from other materials consumed during our manufacturing processes and recycles them for reuse.

GenCell monitors the safe disposal of the Potassium Hydroxide (KOH) electrolyte, the liquid solution in which the electrodes are suspended in the fuel cell. Throughout the production process, GenCell tests the electrolyte for reuse and consumption. After continuous reuse, when the solution cannot be further reused, it is safely disposed of in compliance with strict standards for disposal of Hazardous Materials.

GenCell uses a closed-loop manufacturing process to produce hydrogen from water in a clean electrolysis process that emits no pollutants whatsoever.

In our production facilities, GenCell Energy monitors operations for optimal energy efficiency in the use of lighting, HVAC, production machinery, computer equipment, and operation of any and all electrical appliances and equipment.

GenCell recycles all waste materials at its production facilities, from packaging and paper goods to office supplies to employee consumables.

 In our procurement system, every Purchase Order is accompanied by a Requirements Control Card in full compliance with all environmental regulations such as ROHS and REACH.

GenCell has adopted a Good Nutrition policy which has eliminated procurement of unhealthy baked goods for employees and substituted these snacks with regular supply of fresh fruit for employee snacks.

In 2015, GenCell was independently audited and certified according to the ISO 9001 quality management standard. Our ECG is declared to be fully compliant with relevant CE marking provisions and is T-mark tested and certified by TÜV Rheinland in accordance with IEC-EN 62282-3:2012.

To be eligible for a standard license for Commercial Operations, GenCell complies with all the environmental requirements stipulated by the State of Israel.

As of January 2018, GenCell put in place a Corporate Quality Assurance Policy expressing our commitment to protection of our planet’s resources; clean, cost-efficient energy generation; efficient business processes; compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and continuous development of our human resources.
